DSC09795What Is Resiliency & Sustainability?

As a City, we are responsible for mitigating the impacts of climate change and creating a community that bounces back easily in the face of disruptions. Together, we can do this by significantly reducing fossil-fuel emissions; adapting and preparing for to sea level rise, extreme heat events, and drought; and reducing non-compostable and non-recyclable waste.

What Areas Do We Work In?

  • Sea level and groundwater rise
  • Zero waste
  • Green infrastructure and transportation
  • Interdepartmental climate change adaptation planning
  • State law compliance
  • Electrification (residential and commercial)

What Is Our Work Guided By?

The Resiliency & Sustainability Manager's work is guided by greenhouse gas reduction measures identified in City Council adopted documents such as Sustainability Element of the 2021 General Plan, the 2019 Low Emissions Action Plan, and the 2015 Climate Action Plan. In addition to taking direction from the City Council and City Manager to work on identified strategies, we listen to our community's needs and create programs to fill gaps, provide information and collaborate together.

Let's Work Together!

Only together can we prepare for the impacts of climate change and reduce our current emissions for future generations. Please get in touch with us if you have an idea or a need related to climate change!
