Residential displacement happens when people are forced to move from their homes or neighborhoods for reasons they cannot control, such as rent increases, building demotion and/or remodel, eviction, or other changes that make their homes too expensive or unsafe to live in.

The City of Sausalito has partnered with other cities and towns in Marin and the County of Marin to promote the “Rooted in Marin” project, a community-centered engagement and education process to understand displacement in Marin County.  The purpose is to ultimately develop potential policy solutions to help address the factors that lead to displacement of our friends and families in Marin County.
