About Alarm Permits
The City of Sausalito requires businesses and homes within Sausalito City Limits to register for an alarm response permit before installing a private security alarm in their home or business
How to Apply
- Complete the online application here: Alarm Permit Application
- After completing the online application, you will receive an invoice to pay for the alarm fee by email.
- The fee is $80 for a new Permit application and the annual renewal fee is $40.
- There will be a $40.00 annual renewal fee to maintain an active account.
Benefits of Registering
- By registering your private alarm system, you will not be charged for the first three false alarm responses each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30)
- If your alarm system sends more than three false alarms per fiscal year, or you fail to get a permit for your system, you will be charged a service fee:
- False alarms 4, 5 and 6 will be charged a $105.00 service fee, per response
- False alarms 7, 8, and 9 will be charged a $210.00 service fee, per response
- False alarms 10 or more will be charged a $320.00 service fee, per response
- If your alarm system registers more than 11 false alarms in a fiscal year, or sends many false alarms within a short period, your alarm response permit will be suspended.
- Please note that excessive false alarms may result in the revocation of your alarm permit, and the Sausalito Police Department may no longer respond to alarms at your location.
