About Sausalito Resident Parking Permits

  • Residential Area Parking Permits

    Some residential areas in Sausalito have limited parking availability, so two-hour parking time limits are enforced.
  • As a resident in these areas, you may be eligible to purchase an annual parking permit for your vehicle which allows you to park in excess of the posted time limits.
  • Up to two (2) annual residential guests permits may also be purchased.
  • The affected areas stretch from Old Town to the Caledonia Street neighborhood, see the map below for reference.

Resident Parking Permit Regulations

  • Permits do not allow free parking at street parking meters.
  • Permits do not allow vehicles to park in excess of the 72-hour parking restriction.
  • No Prorated Pricing. The cost of the permit remains the same regardless of the time of year it is purchased.
  • Vehicle-specific permits must be displayed on the vehicle to which the permit was issued and must be affixed on the driver’s side of the vehicle's rear bumper.
    • Improperly displayed permits are considered invalid.
    • Vehicles with improperly displayed permits may be cited for overtime parking.
    • Permits are only valid for the vehicle and area for which it was issued.
  • Residents may request temporary guest permit by contacting the Sausalito Parking Authority at parking@sausalito.gov or by calling (415) 289-4116. 

Area B Residential Parking Permit

  • Costs:
    • Resident Vehicles: $50.00 each for first and second permits, $70.00 each for third and fourth permits, max four resident vehicle permits per address.
    • Guest Permits: $50.00 each, max two guest permits per address.
    • Replacement Permits: $25.00 to replace a lost/stolen permit (resident or guest)
  • All vehicles - including guests - must have a permit to park in excess of two hours within the designated area.
  • Up to two guest permits are available per resident and/or address and may ONLY be used while visiting the resident.
    • Temporary guest permits will no longer be available.
  • After 6:30pm, B Residential Permit will be required for all vehicles in area B. 
  • Any misuse may result in the permanent loss of all permit rights and/or issuance of a citation.
  • Area B permits good only in the Area B parking zone.

Area C Residential Parking Permit

  • Costs:
    • Resident Vehicles: $50.00 each for first and second permits, $70.00 each for third and fourth permits, max four resident vehicle permits per address.

  • Costs:

Area D Residential Parking Permit

  • Cost: $270.00/vehicle per quarter.
  • Permit is available to residents who reside in specific areas of downtown Sausalito, see below.
  • The permit allows unlimited parking in Public Parking Lot #3, located at Bridgeway & Bay Streets.
  • Premium D Permits are also valid in the regular D permit areas.
  • D Permits are not valid at street parking meters.

  • 400-1000 Bridgeway
  • 1-40 and 90-92 Princess
  • #7 Excelsior only
