About Area Parking Permits

  • Residential Area Parking Permits

    Some residential areas in Sausalito have limited parking availability, so two-hour parking time limits are enforced
  • As a resident in these areas, you may be eligible to purchase an annual parking permit for your vehicle which allows you to park in excess of the posted time limits
  • The affected areas stretch from Old Town to the Caledonia Street neighborhood, see the map below for reference

  • For more detailed information, including specific address eligibility, please see the detailed lists further below

How To Apply

  • To apply for an area parking permit, you will need to bring proof of Sausalito residency and current vehicle registration(s)
  • Residential and Guest Parking Permits may be obtained during business hours from the Sausalito Parking Authority at 29 Caledonia Street
    • Business hours are currently Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Area Parking Permit Regulations

  • Permits do not allow free parking at street meters
  • Permits do not allow vehicles to park in excess of the 72-hour parking restriction
  • Vehicle-specific permits must be displayed on the vehicle to which the permit was issued and must be affixed on the driver’s side of the rear bumper
    • Improperly displayed permits are considered invalid
    • Vehicles with improperly displayed permits may be cited for overtime parking
    • Permits are only valid for the vehicle and area for which it was issued

Area B Residential Parking Permit

  • Cost: $35.00/vehicle per year
  • Permit is available to most residents living in the vicinity of Bulkley Street
  • All vehicles - including guests - must have a permit to park in excess of two hours within the designated area
  • Up to 2 guest permits are available per resident and/or address and may ONLY be used while visiting the resident
    • Any misuse may result in the permanent loss of all permit rights and/or issuance of a citation
  • These permits good only in the Area B parking zone
  • Replacement cost of lost/stolen permit is $10.00

Area C Residential Parking Permit

  • Cost: $35.00/vehicle per year
  • Permit is available to most residents living in the Caledonia to Bonita & Johnson to Litho Street areas
  • All vehicles - including guests - must have a permit to park in excess of two hours within the designated area
  • Up to 2 guest permits are available per resident and/or address and may ONLY be used while visiting the resident
    • Any misuse may result in the permanent loss of all permit rights and/or issuance of a citation
  • These permits good only in the Area C parking zone
  • Replacement cost of lost/stolen permit is $10
  • Important Note!
    • Area C Permits cannot be used to park in excess of posted time limits (generally 2 hours) found on Caledonia Street, time limits on Caledonia are strictly enforced

Area H Residential Parking Permit

  • Cost: $35.00/vehicle per year
  • Permit is available to residents living in the area known as "Hurricane Gulch"
  • All vehicles - including guests - must have a permit to park in excess of two hours within the designated area
  • Up to 2 guest permits are available per resident and/or address and may ONLY be used while visiting the resident
    • Any misuse may result in the permanent loss of all permit rights and/or issuance of a citation
  • These permits good only in the Area H parking zone
  • Replacement cost of lost/stolen permit is $10

Area D Residential Parking Permit

  • Cost: $190.00/vehicle per quarter
  • Permit is available to residents who reside in specific areas of downtown Sausalito:
  • Eligible Area D Addresses are:
    • 400-499 Bridgeway
    • 1-40 and 90-92 Princess
    • #7 Excelsior only
  • The permit allows unlimited parking in Public Parking Lot #3, located at Bridgeway & Bay Streets
  • Premium D Permits are also valid in the regular D permit areas
  • D Permits are not valid at street parking meters
