About the Postal Carrier Alert Program

  • The Postal Carrier Alert Program is part of a nationwide effort by the U.S. Postal Service and National Association of Letter Carriers
  • The program is designed to help keep an extra eye on older adults and persons who are disabled
  • Your postal carrier will report any concerns to the local law enforcement agency, who will then come check on your welfare
  • Postal Carriers in Sausalito and Marin City have been trained to take note of changes, such as mail or newspapers piled up, porch lights on at odd times, or other signs that may indicate the possibility that something might be wrong at your residence
  • Sign up for the program by completing and returning the registration form to the Sausalito Post Office or to the Sausalito Police Department, or by calling (415) 289-4170
  • The Postal Carrier Alert Program is co-sponsored by Age-Friendly Sausalito, the Marguerita C. Johnson Senior Center in Marin City, the Sausalito Police Department, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, and coordinated by the Episcopal Senior Communities (ESC)
