About the Sausalito Police Department
The Sausalito Police Department serves a waterfront community of residents, businesses, and visitors on the southern edge of Marin County. Our staff of approximately 30 sworn and professional personnel provides police services around the clock, on land and on the water.

Organization
- Administration: Oversees recruitment, hiring, personnel, budgets, grants, professional standards, and the investigation of complaints.
- Patrol: The department's primary operational division. Patrol officers respond to calls for service, emergencies, and criminal activity 24 hours a day.
- Investigations: Conducts follow-up investigations of serious criminal and civil cases.
- Marine Patrol: Enforces local, state, and federal maritime laws, provides emergency assistance and waterway security, and promotes safe boating in the waters around Sausalito. We work closely with the U.S. Coast Guard, the Marin County Sheriff's Office, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
- Records: Manages police reports, warrants, subpoenas, and department statistics.
- Parking Services: Handles parking compliance, traffic control, and abandoned vehicle abatement.
Dispatch services are provided by the Marin County Sheriff's Office Communications Center.
Community Partnerships
Our Volunteers in Public Service (VIPS) program supports the department's work across the city. Residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact us.
Accountability
