About Police Report Copies
- If you have contacted the Sausalito Police Department and filed a police report with an officer you may be entitled to a copy of that police report
- A request for a copy of a police report may be made in person at the Sausalito Police Department or by mail by downloading and completing the application below
- Police report copies may only be requested after the case has been closed, you may not request a copy of a police report if the case is still under investigation
- In some cases you may not be able to request a copy of a police report, even if the case is closed
- You may not request a copy of a police report unless you are, or are a legal representative of, a party listed in that police report
Do I Need a Copy of a Police Report?
- There are few circumstances when you need to have a physical copy of a police report
- For example, banks and insurance companies may only need the case number of the report
- In some situations these companies may request a copy of the report themselves

Requesting a Police Report Copy
- Download, print, and fill out the Application for Release of Police Report
- Copies are available at the Sausalito Police Department if you cannot download this form
- There is no fee for requesting a single copy of a police report, however there may be a fee if you are requesting more than one copy
- There is a 10-day waiting period after application submittal to receive the police report copy.

- Submit your completed application in person or by mail:
- Drop off your completed application to the Sausalito Police Department, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
