Notice Regarding Gradual Reopening of Municipal Lots on Weekends During Public Health Order (PHO)

  • Due to the dramatically increased demand for parking in downtown Sausalito during Phase II of the Public Health Order (PHO), the City of Sausalito has decided to gradually re-open the municipal parking lots in an effort to reduce congestion in the downtown corridor
    • Public Parking Lots #1 and #2 will remain open all weekend
    • Public Parking Lots #3 and #4 will be remain closed and will open only if the demand for parking dictates the need
    • This will be evaluated regularly throughout the holiday weekend
  • Similar to the last few weekends of Public Parking Lot closures, Sausalito residents, downtown merchants and their employees who are displaced by the closures should park in metered parking spaces on the street with their valid parking permits displayed, either on the vehicle's rear bumper or have their parking card displayed on the vehicle’s dashboard
  • The Sausalito Police Department wants to ensure you park legally when you are shopping at a curbside retailer
    • “Curbside pick-up” does not necessarily mean you can literally pull up to the curb of your favorite local business
    • Citations will be issued for those parked illegally in red zones, parked blocking crosswalks, and for all other hazardous violations
    • Green Zones and Yellow Zones are available for use when making a quick pick-up, but keep in mind these spaces will be monitored routinely
  • Effective Saturday May 23rd, 2020 hourly parking rates in downtown Sausalito will change at Street Meters and in Public Parking Lots
    • Per Resolution No. 5731 (07/31/2018) these changes will remain in effect until September 30, 2020
    • This increase was set to take place May 1, 2020 but was postponed due to the Public Health Order, see below for more information on seasonal parking rate changes
