About Building Inspections

  • Inspection requests should be made on the 24 hour Inspection Request Line at (415) 289-4100 ext. 811.
  • Callers will need to provide the job site address, building permit number, type of inspection, contact name and phone number and a preference for a morning (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) window.
  • Generally, inspections for requests made prior to the 7:30 a.m. deadline will be performed the same day. Inspection requests made after 7:30 a.m. will be performed the following inspection day.
  • Inspections are performed Monday through Thursday.
  • A responsible party shall be on site during the inspection.
  • A confirming call will not be made unless the inspection cannot be performed during the requested time and day.

Monday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Monday through Thursday: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
(not including City Holidays)

Counter Hours

Monday through Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Construction Hours

Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pursuant to Sausalito Municipal Code Section 12.16.140, it is unlawful within a residential zone or within a radius of 500 feet from a residential zone to operate construction equipment or to perform any construction or repair work on buildings, structures, or projects or to operate any pile driver, power shovel, pneumatic hammer, derrick, power hoist, or any other construction-type device during any hours other than those listed above.
