Parking in Sausalito

Whether you are visiting Sausalito, commuting to work, parking near your home, or operating a local business, the City offers several parking options to meet your needs. These include municipal parking lots, metered and time-limited street parking, residential permit areas, commuter and employee parking programs, electric vehicle charging stations, and designated bicycle parking.

Visitors can park in City-operated lots or in available on-street spaces. Parking rates, hours, time limits, and payment requirements vary by location and may change during busy periods or special events. Always check nearby signs, curb markings, meters, and pay stations before leaving your vehicle.

Eligible residents may apply for the City’s cardless Resident Parking Benefit, which provides up to three hours of free parking each day in municipal Lots 1–4. Residents of certain neighborhoods may also qualify for an Area Parking Permit. Commuters and downtown employees may be eligible for discounted parking or permits in designated locations.

Public electric vehicle charging stations are available at City Hall, Dunphy Park, and Municipal Parking Lot 2. Please note that drivers charging in Lot 2 must pay both the applicable parking fee and the electric vehicle charging fee. Payment for charging does not include payment for parking.

Temporary parking restrictions and special arrangements may also be available for construction, contractor work, moving activities, and special events. Depending on the activity, additional permits—such as an encroachment permit—may be required.
