About Disaster Preparedness in Sausalito

Disasters can strike at any time—being prepared can make all the difference. While we can’t predict when or where an emergency will happen, there are simple steps you can take now to protect yourself and your loved ones. Creating an emergency plan, assembling a supply kit, and staying informed are key actions that apply to all types of disasters. However, different emergencies require different responses, so understanding potential threats is essential. With a little planning, you can be better prepared for the unexpected.

Disaster Preparedness Committee

There is no Disaster Preparedness Committee at this time. If the need for a disaster committee arises, the City Council has agreed to adopt a task force model to address needs as they come up.
  • The current focus is El Niño preparation, which is being coordinated by the Sausalito Police Department with our partners at Southern Marin Fire, Sausalito Department of Public Works, and County OEM.
  • To learn more, get involved in El Niño or other preparedness efforts, or schedule a neighborhood preparedness meeting, contact Captain Brian Mather at the Sausalito Police Department or visit Southern Marin Fire.
